From One Kind Of Horror To Another…

October 31st, 2010

I’m doing NaNoWriMo this year.

For those of you who are not familiar, NaNoWriMo is when someone commits to the crazy idea of writing a novel from start to finish in one month. The goal is 50,000 words in the thirty days of November.

I’ve attempted this so many times in the past and I have never quite made it through. Years when I was in school, November was a horrible time to attempt to write anything but the 930483048039 papers that were due. Other years (& sometimes those years as well), I would wind up in some horrible, gut-wrenching and heart-crushing fight(s) with my significant (or insignificant, as the case may be) other, leaving me too emotionally drained to even think about writing.

In any case, I look forward to the insanity that it will bring. As though the stress of completing horroctober wasn’t enough, here comes another month-long commitment right on its heels!

& hey, if you want to be novel writing buddies with me, look for jessrawk (of course) on the NaNo site.

Horroctober, or the Month of Horror Films

September 20th, 2010

And now for something completely different…

Last October, the two individuals you know and (we hope) love as the hosts of Bew Cocky Salsa undertook the gargantuan task of watching (at least) one horror film per day in the month of October. & heck, they even succeeded, clocking in at 35 films total for the project. This year, we’re doing it again, with a little more finesse (we hope) & a lot more planning (we know). This means you even have a handy little website at which to follow along this year! Come get involved and slug it out with us and agree with me, agree with Ed, or agree with neither of us and call us fools. In other words, let’s talk cinema. & for those of you who are not a fan of horror films, rest assured it is not all about being scared and bloody gore (although it’s a lot about that). Ed and I are both cinema buffs of many stripes, so you’ll see comments about directing, acting, scriptwriting, cinematography and everything in between.

I present to you, Horroctober!

Aliens, Strangers & Songs, Oh My!

September 20th, 2010

So we have been having some technical difficulties when it comes to bringing you the archives of Bew Cocky Salsa, but here is one such show that has been waiting around for your enjoyment. In the August 24th (!!) edition of the show, we brought you tunes relating to the term alien. This meant extraterrestrials and strangers and anything else you could think of. Without further ado, here is the podcast and the playlist for your enjoyment & perusal, respectively.

& yes, we have not forgotten about a podcast feed for all of you who are asking. It is coming, I swear! We know how you love xml, darlings.

Summertime & The Livin’s Easy…

August 16th, 2010

We have not forgotten about you, dear listeners and readers. There is no podcast forthcoming for the August 3rd show, during which jessrawk was all by her lonesome in the studio, spinning tunes brought to you by the letter j. However, we are working on the show from last week (August 10th), which features Staples triumphant return & another head to head battle, cats versus dogs. Soon, kittens, very soon…

It’s Called What?!

August 1st, 2010

This week on Bew Cocky Salsa, the Staples is busy being a worker bee, so jessrawk called in a special guest to keep her company in the studio. The theme for this unique edition was unusual song titles. Here is the podcast for your listening pleasure and the playlist for your perusing pleasure.
